Tri-City Smog offers STAR-certified smog checking at two locations for your convenience. It’s likely you’ll need a smog inspection every few years if you’re looking to register your car in Riverside County. Getting a smog check is a simple, standard procedure that tests your vehicle and its engine emissions. This test should only be performed at a licensed facility. Not only does it lower the number of pollutants in the air, but it acts as a good indicator of how well your engine is running. Your local DMV office can provide more information on the standards for your vehicle and when you’re required to bring your vehicle in for a smog test.
These are important for measuring the number of vehicle emissions your car releases into the air. Depending on the model year, number of miles on the odometer, and laws in your state, you will have to get a smog check at designated times. In California, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set the emissions standards. Emissions checks are also required whenever you transfer titles or bring in a car from out-of-state.
